At St Mary's College, we believe the technology subjects play an important role in equipping our students with the skills they need to succeed in a rapidly evolving job market.
Our programs are designed to give students hands-on experience with the latest tools and technologies, and to help them develop the critical thinking and problem-solving skills they will need in their future careers.
Within the Technology department, we offer variety of programs and units to suit the needs and interests of students at different stages of their schooling.
Starting with our Flex program for Primary students, we provide exposure to Digital Technology, Food Technology, and Design and Technology.
In Year 7, all students will experience a term of these subjects, enabling informed choices for the following year.
Year 8 offers semester-long units, and Year 9 and 10 build on the skills developed in earlier years.
As students enter Year 10, they are preparing themselves for possible careers in the Technologies related industries. We offer a range of subjects in Year 10 that are intended to assist the students prepare themselves to the best of their ability. We have units in Design, Wood Technology (furniture making), Metal Technology (sheet metal fabrication and welding), Food Technology and Digital Technology (3D game design).
Senior students can choose from General subjects such as Design, Engineering, and Digital Solutions, or Applied subjects such as Building and Construction Skills, Furnishing Skills, and Certificate II in Engineering and Certificate III in Hospitality. Our range of subject offerings prepares students for future success in their careers and further study.
In addition to our core programs, we also offer a range of extracurricular activities and competitions to help students further develop their skills and connect with like-minded peers. These activities include coding clubs, robotics competitions, and industry visits, among others.
