Work Experience-Yr 11/12

St Mary’s College has allocated a five day period at the end of Semester One for a Work Experience Program for all Year 11 and 12 students on an optional basis. The program will operate from Thursday, 20th June until Wednesday, 26th June, which includes three days of the gazetted school holidays. For the first time in a number of years, this opportunity is available to both OP and non-OP students, allowing a wider range of students to obtain the benefits that stem from this program.

Work Experience Placement is important and valuable as it assists students in their transition from school to work. The type of work experience that is being adopted by St Mary's College is Work Sampling. Work Sampling provides students with an opportunity to gain first-hand knowledge, skills and attitudes required in a workplace. It also gives students an opportunity to test personal vocational preferences through performing tasks in a workplace.

This week, The Year 11 and 12 students will be presented with a letter and information about this program. I would encourage you to talk to your son about Work Experience and consider the range of placement options that are available in Toowoomba and surrounds. Please feel free to contact me at the College (07 4631 7333) if you have any concerns or questions about this program.
