TSSSA Athletics Carnival

At the recent TSSSA Athletics Carnival, the St Mary's College Secondary Athletics Team finished a very creditable second. The result represents some quality work of the students and their coaches.
The team won the Percentage Cup as we scored more points per enrolled student than any other school.  This is the first time that St Mary's College has won this trophy. The team was able to win the Relay Trophy, winning three of the five relays and coming second in the other two.  Mrs Callaghan prepared the teams well and was ecstatic with the result.

The Under 13 age group won their division with the other age groups finishing second or third.  Ryka Dunemann won the Father Graham Memorial Trophy as he was the best athlete at the carnival. Ryka won the 13 years Javelin, High Jump, Long Jump, Triple Jump and Hurdles and came third in the 200m and fourth in the 400m.  He set a carnival record for the High Jump and a College record for the 13 years High Jump and Triple Jump.  Ryka then ran the anchor leg of the relay coming in first place.

Lawrence Upton is running brilliantly at the moment and won the 100, 200 and 400 metre Under 15 events. Lawrence set a TSSSA carnival record for the 15 years 400m which was just outside the time he set for the College record. Lawrence then ran the anchor leg of the relay coming in first place. Will O’Gradey won the 14 years Shot Putt. Corey Frost won the 15 years High Jump.  Ben Choice won the under 19 200m.
