PNG Immersion - 2015

PNG Immersion - 2015

From the 16th – 27th April, a group of students from St Mary’s College will participate in an Immersion to Kavieng, New Ireland Province, Papua New Guinea.  The purpose of the program is for the participants to gain insights into the realities of life for the people with whom they engage as well as insights into the rich spirituality and life of the Church in the host communities. While on Immersion, the boys will participate in classes at OLSH International School, visit World War II sites and memorabilia as well as participate in a community project to help out the villages.

College staff members Mr Andrew Nielsen (AP – Student Welfare) and Ms Angela Collins (Head of Bowdler House) will accompany students: Jack McNab, Jake Weise, Nick Keppell, Pat Collins, Matt Hart, Sean Scanlan, Mitch Revell, Liam Mortlock, Clay Hall and Tyson Flamsteed throughout the immersion.

To fundraise for this Immersion, last year, we held a movie night for the premiere of Big Hero 6. On Saturday 7th March 2015, the boys hosted a Monte Carlo night in the College Hall. These fundraisers will help the boys get to PNG and also help them to leave a legacy to the villages through funding the Community project. At the Monte Carlo night, Mr Paul Grealy won the Broncos jersey in the Multi draw raffle and has donated it back to the boys to re-raffle at school. See the some attached photos from the night.

Please keep the boys in your thoughts and prayers as they venture to stand in solidarity with our neighbours from PNG.
