Hockey DD Champs

Last Monday the open hockey team competed in the annual Darling Downs Hockey Schools Cup. After five of the boys from last year’s team graduated, we welcomed some great new faces to group to defend the title as DD Champions from the two years previous. The draw saw us verse St Joseph’s and Toowoomba State High School in the round games and record two convincing wins (6-1 and 4-1 respectively). These wins meant the team progressed directly through to the semi-finals, again against St Joseph’s. The team improved on their results from earlier in the day with an 8-2 win to qualify for the grand final against a competitive Century Heights State High School. The final was the closet and most coemptive game of the day with great display of teamwork and skills. The team finished the game with a 3-0 win to defend their Darling Downs Schools Cup champions titled for their third consecutive year. A special mention to the Year 12s who have been part of the team for all of these wins– Josh Bidgood, Zac Gooderham and Mitch Thomas. Congratulations to the whole team on a great day of competition. We now look forward to the State All Schools carnival in October.
